One Dead, Many Injured As Lightning Strikes Europe
MEP: A man was killed and dozens of others transferred to hospital after lightning struck several European countries, including a park in Paris and a football pitch in Germany.
In southern Poland, a man in his forties was killed when he was struck by lightning as he descended the Babia Gora mountain, according to reports.
In Paris, a birthday party in Parc Monceau was struck, injuring 11 people, eight of them children. Several are in a life-threatening condition.
Three people were seriously hurt at a youth football match in Germany.
Initial reports said 35 people had been injured at the match – however, many were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Parts of western Germany have seen storms, heavy rain and hail over the past two days.
