Deh Yak District Police Commander Killed in Roadside Bombing

KABUL (MEP) – A roadside mine blast hit Deh yak district of Ghazni province Wednesday, killing district police commander and two of his bodyguards.

Local officials in Ghazni say the blast occurred as Deh Yak police commander Habibullah  was on his way to repel a Taliban attack.

“Deh Yak police commander and two of his bodyguards were killed in the blast.”

The incident comes as early Wednesday Taliban fighters attacked areas in Deh Yak district.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the blast, saying four policemen and a commander named Habibullah were killed in the blast.

This is the second blast taking place today, and the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the blast.

Earlier, the Taliban claimed a car bomb attack on Shah Wali Kot district headquarter in Kandahar province.

However, the reduction of violence is one of the most important steps in the start of intra-Afghan talks that have not yet taken place, even Taliban attacks have increased.
