MEP: Afghan National Security Adviser urged Moscow to provide Kabul with military helicopters and said that Afghanistan needs Russian and the countries of the region aid to fight terrorism.

The press office of the National Security Advisor issued a statement that Mohammad Hanif Atmar traveled to Russia two days before where he held talks with the country’s senior officials and urged cooperation to combat terrorism in northern borders of Afghanistan.

The statement added that a memorandum of military cooperation between Moscow-Kabul has been signed during the meeting.

The National security adviser urged the country to organize Russian ‘M24’ helicopters for the Afghan military section.

Russia had earlier announced to sell its M24 military helicopters to Afghanistan but the United States that provides the bulk of military spending in Afghanistan, was opposed by purchasing Russian military equipment.

Atmar also stressed on further cooperation between the two countries and discussed the issue of fight against drugs as well as undertaking Russia on the achievements of the National Unity Government (NUG).

This comes as Russia has already send a lot Kalashnikovs for the security forces in the past.
