Afghan security force on duty

MEP: Afghan security forces have successfully managed to kill at least 9 Taliban militants including the group’s two top leaders in southern Uruzgan province.

A statement by the Ministry of Defense said the the group’s shadow governor Mawlavi Jan Agha and military commission chief Asadullah were killed in the clashes with security forces during past 24 hours.

In addition 5 militants were also wounded during the operation, the statement added.

The afghan security forces also captured 5 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Chora, and Khas Uruzgan districts.

Meanwhile, based on other reports, at least 20 Taliban insurgents were killed 55 others wounded and two mines discovered and defused in a military operation launched in Sar-e-Pul and Baghlan provinces.

The Taliban insurgents have not commented on the report so far.
