Velayati Meets With Special Representative Of Russian President

MEP: On a meeting between the Special Representative of the President of Russia and Dr. Velayati, they emphasize on strategic cooperation and efforts to solve regional issues.

On Monday, October 10, Dr. Velayati has met Alexander Lavrentiev, Special Representative of the President of Russia, in his one day trip to Tehran. They discussed about regional issues especially Syria.

Lavrentiev emphasized on lasting, strategic and comprehensive relationships while discussing regional and international issues and changes particularly in Syria as well as fighting terrorism.

Dr. Velayati referred that Islamic republic of Iran care for strategic relations with Russia and said: “the Iran-Russia strong and strategic relationship is so important in building peace, regional stability and resolving issues. Every day, the role of such a relationship becomes more dominant.”

Advisor to the Supreme Leader referred to the issues of Syria and the importance of coordination and cooperation between Iran and Russia in this regard.” Iran and Russia are the main allies of the Syrian nation and government. This cooperation played an important role in recent regional developments and victories of Syria.” He added.

Dr. Velayati pointed to some recent movements in the region and emphasized: “some reactionary countries, supporters of terrorist, extremist and Takfiris groups in the region, are looking for a way out for these failed and escaped groups. These countries want to save them and compensate their consecutive failure. We believe that any future political dialogue about Syria must be consulted with Syrian nation and government.”
