UPDATED: 15 Dead As Twin Blasts Hit Holy Shrine In Syrian Capital

 

syria-blastsMEP: A suicide bomber and a separate car bomb blast have rocked a Damascus suburb close to Syria’s holy Shia Muslim shrine, killing at least fifteen people and scores injured, state television says.

The first explosion took place after a car bomb targeted al-Tin Street in al-Diyabia town, according to Sana news agency.

The cause of the second blast, which took place at the entrance of Ziabiyeh district near the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (Peace Be Upon Her). However according to Syrian Arab News Agency a suicide bomber may have triggered the blast on Saturday.

The neighbourhood has been hit by a number of attacks in recent months, killing and injuring hundreds.

No group including Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) claimed responsibility for the blasts.
