Seven Family Members Dead in Rawalpindi House Fire

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least seven people died in a fire in a two story house on Wednesday morning in Rawalpindi’s Chaklala scheme 3 district of northern Pakistan.

The incident took place after electrical short circuiting fanned out of control and turned into blaze in the two-storey house leaving all the family members dead including five children.

Two women who were injured during the fire, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the resources, names of the deceased persons are Shaukat Cheema, his age was 35, his wife Ayesha, her age was 32, their eldest son, Hassan was 14 years old and youngest among them was Fatima, only four years old.

The fire was extinguished by a fire brigade team, and police are now investigating the incident.

Eyewitnesses in the neighborhood told that the fire began at around 7:30am this morning. After seeing smoke and fire in the upper portion of the house, neighbors called Rescue 1122 services.

Fires at commercial buildings and homes kill or wound dozens of people every year in Pakistan, where smoke detectors are rare.
