Seven Dead, Scores Wounded In Iraq Bombings & Shooting Attacks

KABUL: (MEP) A series of bomb attacks and shootings have killed at least seven people and nearly three dozen others wounded in Iraq’s Baghdad over the past two days.

Two people were killed and five others injured on Wednesday morning when an improvised explosive device went off close to fish farms in the town of Mada’in, located about 20 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of the capital, Security and medical officials on condition of anonymity said.

Separately, a bomb exploded close to a commercial district in Baghdad’s northeastern leaving one civilian dead and six others injured.

Five soldiers also sustained injuries on Wednesday when an explosion struck an army checkpoint in the town of Tarmiyah, located about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad.

On Tuesday, a civilian was killed and nine others were injured when a blast ripped through a commercial district in the capital’s southwestern Suwaib neighborhood.

A bomb attack also targeted an outdoor market in Baghdad’s northern neighborhood of Shaab, killing one civilian and wounding eight others.

Furthermore, unidentified armed men fatally shot a civilian in Sadr City. Another civilian was also gunned down in the Nairiyah neighborhood of northern Baghdad.

An explosion in Baghdad’s central neighborhood of Camp Sareh also left two civilians injured on Tuesday.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq says a total of 888 Iraqis were killed and 1,237 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in November alone.
