Russia, Ukraine Agree to Implement Ceasefire

KABUL (MEP) – Ukraine and Russia with the mediation of France and Germany have agreed to implement a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine by the end of 2019.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and “Volodymyr Zelensky” met in Paris in Monday night Dec. 10, MEP reports.

The meeting was also brokered by French President Emanuel Macron and Angela Merkel, German Presidents.

After extensive talks, Russia and Ukraine agreed to implement a comprehensive ceasefire in eastern Ukraine by year’s end.

This is the first negotiation between the two countries’ top officials in three years to negotiate an end to the war in eastern Ukraine.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in more than five years of clashes between Russian-backed rebels and government forces in eastern Ukraine.
