Presidential Elections ‘Silence’ Begins

KABUL (MEP) — Nearly two months on, the silence days for presidential campaigns has begun.

According to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) calendar, the pre-election silence begins today Thursday, Sept 26, MEP reports.

None of the presidential candidates, their deputies, and their colleagues have the right to participate in the campaign or continue their campaign for the two days remaining to election.

The ban includes media programs, gatherings and social networks, and violators are treated seriously and lawfully by the commission.

The presidential election will be held on Saturday Sept 28 and before that, candidates had ran for nearly two months in the campaign.

18 candidates had registered for the election, two of which withdrew for another candidates and Hanif Atmar called off his participation to the election.
