More than 2 million mourners attended Karbala on Ashura

The incident of Karbala is one of the bitterest events in human history, and the struggle of Imam Hussein Ibn Ali was a struggle against the cruelty, injustice and selfishness of Yazid and his forces.

Today (October 1st) coincides with the events of Karbala and the tenth of Muharram, from this day in different countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Iraq and … are the countries that hold the largest mourning ceremony.

But Karbala, a place where the Ahl al-Bayt family was martyred, has another rebellion; more than 2 million mourners participated in this year’s Ashura Husseini ceremony in Karbala, according to the Middle East Press correspondent.

From dawn started and till noon, people was added to the crowd, and when the weeper began to describe the story of Ashura, they all went silent and heard the story of the story.

The occasion of Ashura, marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and 72 of his companions in 680 AD in a land that is known today as Iraq, after they refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant Yazid.

Ashura is the culmination of a 10-day annual mourning period in the lunar month of Muharram for the third Imam of Shia Muslims, who was a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

The ceremony of Ashura in Karbala ended after noon prayers, and after this ceremony, the mourners are taking care of Arbaeen, the 40th of Imam’s martyrdom and this year over 20 million pilgrims will be in Arbaeen.
