KABUL: (Middle East Press) According to Vremya –a Russian-language daily newspaper printed in Almaty – Omar Simayof, the notorious and most feared ISIS terrorist in Central Asia, has declared himself the Emir (governor) of Kazakhstan and pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

“I hereby declare all non-Wahhabi Muslims, namely the Maturidi minority, as heretics and with Allah’s blessings, we shall obliterate all infidels and shed their filthy blood,” said Simayof in an audio message, promising the government of president Nazarbayev of a full-fledged revolt.

The Maturidi religion is considered as one of the many Sunni Islam sub-branches in Kazakhstan, though its followers adhere a more moderate ideology comparing to Saudi-backed orthodox Wahhabi school of thought.

Dr. Aydos Sarim, a political science Professor at the University of Nazarbayev, believes ISIS-affiliated groups are thriving more than ever in the Central Asia, posing serious security threats against the society by inciting Sunni community to wage Jihad against the central government and terrorizing ethnic and religious minorities.

The majority of Kazakh hard-line Islamists, added Dr. Sarim, are heading to the volatile countries in the Middle-East and most of them are being trained and equipped in Turkey and we know that unfortunately most of the foreign rebels fighting the Syrian army are brain-washed young Kazakh citizens.
