Bomb Attack Targets MP in Kabul, Kills 3, Injures 8

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At bomb blast has left at least three people dead and injured eight others including the MP in eastern part of Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul.

The attack took place on Sunday night in Shah Shahid area.

Farid Afzali, director of criminal investigations for the Kabul Police Department said the explosion targeted Gul Pacha Mujedi a parliamentarian from eastern Paktia province, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

“MP Gul Pacha Majidi was attending a Jirga (assembly of elders)… and as he was exiting the premises … attacker on foot detonated himself,” Kabul police chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, told reporters, adding that the MP sustained shrapnel wounds to his leg.

Sediq Sediqqi, Interior Ministry spokesman confirmed the attack but did not offer any details on casualties.

No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Sunday blast was the second bomb attack in Kabul in a week. Last Wednesday another bomber killed at least seven people and wounded 31, according to Afghan security officials.
