Heavy Blast Kills 12, Injuries 40 In Iraq’s Baqubah
MEP: At least 12 people were killed and 40 others wounded in an explosion in Baqubah city of Iraq on Monday, the country’s security sources said.
The blast took place after a vehicle packed with explosives detonated near a popular restaurant in Shaftah district.
Police and hospital sources said the injured people were shifted to hospitals where most of them are in critical condition.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. However, such attacks are often blamed by Islamic State (IS or Daesh) terrorists.
Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan said the attack happened at the heart of the city, adding that an investigation has been opened into the attack.
