Female Indian Aid Worker Rescued After 45 Days In Custody

Judith D'SouzaMEP: An Indian aid worker who was kidnapped in Kabul about 45 days before has been rescued unharmed, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj announced on Saturday.

Judith D’Souza, 40, was working for the Aga Khan Foundation when she was abducted at gunpoint near her home on 9 June.

Swaraj tweeted earlier today “”I am happy to inform you that Judith D’Souza has been rescued.”

She thanked Afghanistan for its “help and support” but gave no details about how the release came about.

Afghan security and government officials have not commented so far in this regard.
