Clashes Between Houthi Fighters And Pro-Saudi Rebels Kill Over 50

skynews.img.1200.745KABUL: (MEP) Deadly clashes broke out between pro-Saudi rebels and Houthi fighters in which at least 57 people were killed in Ta’izz province, local sources say.

The attack occurred in a bid to drive Yemen’s Houthi fighters away from the city.

Military sources said 37 members of the Yemeni army and their allied Houthi fighters and six civilians were killed in Friday clashes with involved airstrikes by Saudi warplanes.

Fourteen militants loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi were also killed. Medical officials said most of the casualties were caused by Saudi airborne assaults.

Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen from the air, sea and ground for a year now in a bid to restore Hadi to power.

Local witnesses, meanwhile, said al-Qaeda-linked militants had kidnapped a number of Houthi fighters in Ta’izz.
