At least 42 Killed In Syria’s Aleppo

890808KABUL: (MEP) Rocket attacks by Takfiri militants have reportedly killed at least 42 people in the Syrian northwestern city of Aleppo as the United Nations warned that a delicate ceasefire was crumbling, according to local sources.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Thursday that the deadly attacks occurred in government-held areas of the embattled city during the past six days.

Aleppo has been the epicenter of a military escalation that has helped to undermine U.N.-led peace talks in recent weeks. A cessation of hostilities agreement has unraveled and fighting has resumed on numerous fronts in western Syria.

Meanwhile, local security sources said an air strike on Al Quds hospital on Wednesday killed several medical staff and other civilians, including Dr Wasem Maaz, one of the last remaining pediatricians in Aleppo city.

The casualties are the latest from an upsurge of fighting between government and terrorists in the city that has reportedly killed nearly 150 people since last Friday.
