Gunmen Abduct Over 20 Passengers In Sar-e-Pul

highwayMEP: Unidentified gunmen have reportedly stopped two vans and kidnapped their passengers in Sancharak district of Sar-e-Pul province.

Ali Akbar Andrabi, a spokesman for police chief of Sar-e-Pul told the Middle East News Agency, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening in ‘Da Mardi’ village.

The exact figure of the passengers is not known yet but it is said that the number of the kidnapped passengers is likely to be 25, Andrabi added.

According to Andrabi, there is no information about the fate of the passengers yet. However, investigations started to trace the kidnappers.

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the kidnapping.

This came just two days after the Taliban insurgents kidnapped more than 200 passengers on Kunduz highway, as a result, 15 of them have been killed, 8 of them are being held hostage and the rest were released.
