UPDATED: 7 Dead, 23 Injured In Attack On Logar’s Appellate Court

MEP: As a result of a coordinated attack on Appellate Court of Logar province seven people, including head of the court were killed and 23 others including civilians and employees of the court and the prosecutor were wounded.

Salim Saleh, spokesman for the governor of Logar told the Middle East News Agency three attackers around 10:40 am Sunday this launched deadly attacks on the appellate court in which two of the attackers were killed security forces and the third attacker entered the court’s building and clashed with the forces.

Akram Nejat, General chairman of the court was also killed in the attack, Saleh added.

Saleh noted that investigations started in connection to the attacks to determine the main cause behind it.

Armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident and said the attack was in revenge for the execution of six taken by the Afghan government.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman said the attack killed a number of prosecutors and judges, including Chief of General Logar.

The attack comes as a week before the Taliban attacked the provincial court, as a result, four civilians and a policeman were killed and 11 others wounded, including head of the court.
