According to the report, Omid Nouri Pour, member of German parliament for the Green Party who had recently returned from Erbil, Iraq, in an interview on September 25, 2015 with “Spiegel Online” announced, “I disagree with the weapon delivery to the Kurds.

German government has been unable to prove what will be consequences of the weapons delivered to Iraqi Kurdistan”. He adds, “We do not know whether the weapons sent to Iraqi Kurdistan are really used against ISIS or their authorities store them for other purposes”. Nouri Pour said, “Some German arms delivered to Iraqi Kurdistan have fallen into the hands of the PKK.

This group has used German weapons to create insecurity in Turkey, so as long as the answer of ambiguities is not clear, sending weapons to Kurdistan must be banned”. Nouri Pour also called for greater control of the German army so that German weapons will not fall into the wrong hands.

The member of the German parliament gave these remarks while Iraqi Kurdistan officials called for more German weapons to fight against the Islamic State.

It is worth mentioning that last year German army has handed over 20,000 guns, 60 MILAN Anti-Tank Missile System, 1000 guided missiles, 200 mortar shells and other ammunition to the Kurds.

The German army is also involved in the training of 4,000 Kurdish Peshmerga in Erbil.
