KABUL: (MEP) The United Nations has slammed air strikes in Syria following an agreement Friday by global powers to begin a ceasefire within a week.

Attention is expected to focus on those responsible.

UN spokesperson Farhan Haq spoke to reporters on Monday about reports of missile attacks on at least 5 medical facilities and 2 schools. Nearly 50 civilians, including children, were killed. He said such attacks are a blatant violation of international laws.

On Monday, missiles hit a hospital supported by Doctors without Borders in the northwestern province of Idlib and an area near a hospital in the northern city of Azaz.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said missiles that Russia is believed to have fired from the Caspian Sea hit a hospital and school in Azaz.

Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad has blamed the US-led coalition for the attack in Idlib. He said that US troops destroyed the hospital and the Russian military had nothing to do with it.
