U.S. House Speaker Makes Surprise Visit to Afghanistan

KABUL (MEP) – U.S. House of Representatives Speaker and other senior members of Congress arrived in Kabul on a surprised visit and met with top Afghan officials.

The delegation headed by Nancy Pelosi arrived in Kabul yesterday evening and the visit was concluded today, Monday, October 21, MEP reports.

“Today, our bipartisan delegation completed a visit to Afghanistan focused on security, governance, & economic development,” said Nancy Pelosi in a Tweet.

She emphasized the need to strengthen the Afghan security forces and the cooperation of US security forces.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives arrived unexpectedly in Kabul, while US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper yesterday also met with NUG leaders in his separate travel to Kabul.
