Turkish Coast Guard Capture Over 900 Illegal Migrants In August

MEP: Turkish Coast Guard teams have captured a total of 918 illegal migrants, including women and children so far in August who were trying to get to European countries from Turkey’s western coast, security sources said Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, human trafficking in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas has increased sharply over the summer and the Turkish Coast Guard captured 538 illegal migrants in June and 881 in July.

The migrants’ “journey of hope” has so far risen by 70 percent in August compared to the previous month.
