Turkey’s Ruling Party Trying To Change The Constitution

MEP: According to BBC, Ben Ali Yildirim, Turkey’s prime minister, has announced that the proposal to change the constitution and expansion of the presidential powers, will be discussed next week in the parliament.

Republican People’s Party and Peoples’ Democratic Party (Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s critics) are opposed to expansion of the presidential powers.

The ruling party says even if they achieve the majority in the parliament for making the changes, next spring there will be a referendum about these changes.
