Trump Apologizes For Lewd Remarks About Women + Video

MEP: The Republican Donald Trump early Saturday morning issued a short video statement apologizing after a 2005 video surfaced where he discussed groping women with former “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush.

In the video, posted by the Washington Post, Mr Trump is heard telling Bush “you can do anything” to women “when you’re a star”.

The former reality TV star bragged about kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women who were not his wife on recordings released by The Washington Post and NBC News on Friday.

The remarks were captured by a live microphone that Trump did not appear to know was recording their conversation.

In the Saturday video statement, Trump, said: “I never said I was a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone I’m not. I’ve said and done things that I regret and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them.”

“Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.”

Meanwhile, US House Speaker Paul Ryan and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton have criticized Trump over his crude remarks about women.

Clinton tweeted that “this is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president.”

Ryan also said in a statement, “I am sickened by what I heard today,” adding, “Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified.”

“I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests,” Ryan added.
