Three Indian Students Commit Suicide Over Excess Fee

bloodKABUL: (MEP) Three Indian female students of SVS Yoga Medical College committed suicide on Saturday evening declaring the administration responsible for their deaths.

The incident occurred at Kallakurichi near Villupuram in Indian state of Tamil Nadu, according to The Indian Express.

The bodies of the students, doing naturopathy courses in the institution, were found in a well near the college.

The two students E Saranya and V Priyanka, aged 18 and T Monisha, 19 also left a signed suicide note stating that students had filed several complaints against college chairman Vasuki Subramanian, to no avail.

Citing excess fee and “torture” by the management, the girls hoped that their suicide would finally force authorities to take action against the chairman.

In the suicide note, the girls talked about the administration charging “excess fees”, “around Rs 6 lakh”, and never giving the bill. Despite the money charged from them, the girls said, the college lacked proper classes or teachers and there was “nothing to learn”.

“After our suicide, she (Subramanian) will say our character was bad. Please don’t believe her but probe and take action against her,” says the note.

A team headed by the district SP had launched an investigation into the incident, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Villupuram Anisa Husain said.
