Third Palestinian Intifada; Background And Causes

MEP: Third Palestinian has been started since October 2015 with a wave of demonstration and anger in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the occupied territories.

Third Palestinian or Al-Quds Intifada also known as “knife intifada” has been started since October 2015 with a wave of protests and anger in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the occupied territories.

The peculiarity of the Intifada is repeated operation attacks on Israeli soldiers and Jewish invaders by a knife, the same action by Israelis and summary executions of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers on the pretext of intention to attack.

These events coincided Israeli air force carried out airstrikes on the Gaza Strip that launched a rocket into Israel.

Its starting point was Duma arson attack by settlers in July 31, 2015. The event enhances resistance activities against the Zionist enemy.

There were also some activities during the year before which was named the resistance against Israeli occupation. It was encountered severely violence reactions by Israeli forces. Like, the two-month strike by Palestinians in Israeli prisons and the martyrdom of Mohammed Abu Khudair after he succeeded to kill three occupying force in January of that year. Israel’s war against Gaza Strip, which led to martyrdom of more than 2,100 Palestinian citizens, worsens the situation.

In September 2015 the Zionist enemy targeted Al-Aqsa mosque; on Sept. 9 Israeli minister of defense banned students of Masatab al Elm from entering Al-Aqsa mosque. On Sept. 14 Israeli minister of agriculture, Uri Ariel, and forty Jewish-Zionists broke into the mosque and special battalions filled the courtyard of the mosque. On Sept. 17, dozens of the Israelis from the Likud Party has entered Al-Aqsa mosque.

In political field, the trust of the parties involved has been withdrawn, as the Netanyahu government put conditions the illegitimate State of Israel to be recognized by Palestinians. The negotiations had been suspended since the beginning of 2014. Palestinian Authority asked the International Criminal Court and tried to force the United Nations to recognize Palestinian state despite opposition from Israel.

The illegitimate Netanyahu government expanded settlement project in the West Bank, and didn’t responded to the request of backing to the negotiating table, stopping settlements, releasing Palestinian prisoners and planning for negotiations.

According to statistics, 52% of citizens intended to leave, 57% support armed intifada and 80% of Palestinians believe that the Palestinian issue is not a priority for Arab states.

It is said that Mahmoud Abbas’s speech at the United Nations in Sept. 30, 2015 is politically an end of Oslo that most of Palestinians parties agreed on that.
