‘The Enemies’ Efforts To Undermine The Deep Connection Between Iran And Iraq’

MEP: Dr. Velayati, head of the Centre for Strategic Research, met with the Iraqi ambassador, Dr. Rajeh al-Moussawi, in Tehran on Monday, October 12. They shared ideas and discussed bilateral relations, regional and international cooperation and the latest developments.

Dr. Velayati, pointing to historical records and various reasons for a profound connection between Iran and Iraq, made the remarks: religion, history and common culture are of the important reasons for deep connections between the two countries contributing to strengthened exchanges and communications. Yet the enemy seeks to weaken these important and strong connections and undermines the belief of the people. Today the war made by enemies and conspirators is considered to be an ideological and cultural war.

Dr. Velayati reiterated: the people of Iran and Iraq are lovers and followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). Such strong similarities between the two nations will certainly lead to their victory and they will achieve success in fighting enemies.

Iraq’s ambassador to Iran expressed his satisfaction visiting Dr. Velayati and found the relations between the two countries to be a historic opportunity. He pointed to the role of religious leaders, their values, importance and influence in both countries and said: the secret of our nation’s power is its resorting to Islam as well as its adherence to authority.

Referring to his meeting with the UN envoy, Iraq’s ambassador said: during the meeting, I told him that the United Nations owes a big thank to Iran, because if it weren’t about  Iran’s  standing  up against ISIS, not only Iraq but also the entire region would have been seized by ISIS.
