Tehran And Moscow To Boost Military Cooperation

KABUL: (MEP) Iran’s defense minister Gen. Hossein Dehghan has met Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu in Moscow for talks about to increase and improve military cooperation, Russian state television reported.

Dehghan also held meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday where the two parties discussed the implementation of a military cooperation agreement signed last year, pledged to develop military cooperation between the countries.

Shoigu hailed a “high level of mutual trust” between Moscow and Tehran and their readiness to coordinate policies.

The Iranian and Russian defense ministers exchanged their views on current security issues in the Middle East and Central Asia. Shoigu said the meeting would contribute to further improving “friendly relations” between Russia and Iran, and added the efficiency of Russian and Iranian counter-terror measures would depend on the implementation of bilateral agreements.

Russia and Iran both have backed Syrian President Bashar Assad throughout Syria’s civil war.
