Taliban seize several security posts in Takhar

In the wake of militant attacks on security shells in the districts of Khwaja-Ghar and Khwaja Bahawoddin of Takhar province, battle entered the second day between security forces and the armed Taliban. The group captured several posts.

Local officials say clashes ongoing in the districts adding that, “reinforcements reached the area for the purpose of suppressing terrorism.”

Takhar police chief, Brig. Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani in an interview with the Middle East Press confirmed a number of security shells and four villagers fell to the hands of armed the Taliban and said “soldiers in an attempt to avoid heavy losses have tactical retreated from these shells.”

The region of Charsihaa in the district of Khwaja Bahawoddin and the region of Gorteepa in the district of Khwaja Ghar which contain several security shells have been captured by Taliban and based on the details of the police chief of Takhar, three National Police posts and one local police post in the district of Khwaja Bahawoddin and six checkpoints and four villages in Khwaja Ghar district are the posts that were fell into the hands of militants.

Takhar police chief said the commandos in support of Air Force have reached to the areas to regain the regions.

According to reports, in the village of Qaflaaton of Khwaja Ghar District, Taliban shadow governor including a number of senior commanders of the group are surrounded by security forces and the group have continued war to other parts in order to withdraw their key people.

Three security personnel were killed and one wounded in the conflict, but officials did not provide a specific figure on casualties compiled to Taliban but say they have suffered heavy losses.
