Taliban May Take Control Of Helmand’s Musa Qala District

Musa Qala DistrictKABUL: (Middle East Press) Mohammad Sharif Khan, the Governor of Musa Qala District of southern Helmand province has warned that the district is possibly falling into Taliban’s hands.

Khan said that Taliban are getting closed in and on the center of the district and are now two kilometers away from the District where they are involved in heavy clashes with security forces.

He called on the National Government to immediately send reinforcement otherwise the district will fall by Taliban and they may reach to the center of this district.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that over dozens of Afghan soldiers were killed in the district by Taliban insurgents.

Abdul Majid Akhundzada who is a member of Helmand’s provincial council told media that 45 soldiers have been martyred in a check post in Qasaban area while 20 others surrendered to Taliban.

Taliban on their website claim that they have occupied a security post in Qasaban area.
