Shootings In Chicago Killed 3, 25 Injured

chicago shootingKABUL: (Middle East Press) Deadly shooting incidents have killed at least three people and 25 others wounded, including a 7-year-old girl, across Chicago over the weekend, police officials said.

The most recent fatal shooting took place about 1 a.m. Sunday in Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.

Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were standing on the sidewalk in the 8200 block of South Ingleside when someone walked up and fired shots at them, police added.

The younger boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name was withheld pending family notification

The older boy was shot in the leg and also taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized. A police source said the 17-year-old is a known gang member.

The weekend’s first shooting left a 7-year-old girl and 32-year-old man wounded in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

The girl was shot in the arm and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was expected to be treated and released Saturday morning.

The man, shot in the back, was treated and released from the University of Chicago Medical Center. A police source said he is a documented gang member.

Every year, more than 30,000 people are shot and killed in the United States.
