Several Injured In Axe-Wielding Attack On German Train

attack in German trainMEP: As many as 14 people have reportedly injured after a teenage refugee attacked a train in southern Germany equipped with an ax- and knife-wielding, officials said.

The suspect, who was shot by police, has been identified as a 17-year-old “unaccompanied minor” of Afghan origin.

The attack occurred on Monday night near the city of Wuerzburg, police said, adding the many of the injured are in critical condition.

At least 20 injuries were initially reported in the attack, but later it was announced that some 14 people were treated for trauma on the scene.

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said the attacker was killed as he tried to flee the scene.

The motive for the attack remained unknown.

The suspect entered the country as an “unaccompanied minor” and lived with a “foster family” for the last two weeks. Before that he had been housed at the Kolping-Heim refugee center, FOCUS online reported.

Among those injured were four people from Hong Kong, according to the South China Morning Post.  

The attack comes as In May, a man made a similar exclamation before stabbing a person to death and wounding three others at a railway station in Munich.
