Senior Taliban Commander Slain In Logar
KABUL: (MEP) A fierce clash erupted between Taliban insurgents and national security forces in which a senior Taliban commander was killed and two others detained in Khoshi district of Logar province.
Mohammad Rahim was killed after he clashed with the National Directorate of Security (NDS) during a special military raid, a statement by NDS said on Sunday.
According to the statement, Rahim was in charge of leading terrorist operations in the district.
The security officers also seized 2 Ak-47 rifles, 1 rocket launcher and a motorcycle during the operation, NDS added.
This comes as yesterday a shadow district governor of the Taliban group was arrested during an operation by the Afghan intelligence officers in eastern Nangarhar with seven of his companions.
