Security Forces Suffer Casualties in Taliban Attack in Kunduz

KABUL (MEP) – Dozens of ANA and ANP forces were killed, after armed Taliban attacked a number of security outposts in Dashti Archi district of Kunduz Province.

Kunduz police spokesman Anamuddin Rahmani, in a phone conversation with MEP said that casualties feared on Afghan forces.

Rahmani added that due to increase in casualties, ANA have to respond in this regard.

On the other hand, former Kunduz Provincial Council member Mawlawi Abdullah told MEP that 12 ANA soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded in the attack.

Four security forces have also been captured by the Taliban, source said.

“Only central Dasht-e-Archi district is under Afghan forces` control, and rest is controlled by the Taliban,” according to Mawlawi Abdullah.

Armed Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also said in a post on Twitter that Taliban has seized security outpost, killing 34 Afghan forces and capturing four.

However, MoD spokesmen declined to comment, but issued a statement saying that last night eight Taliban fighters were killed in an air raid on Taliban positions in Dasht-e-Archi.
