US: 50 Troops Suffered Traumatic Brain Injury after Iran Attack

KABUL (MEP) – The Pentagon says that 50 US soldiers were now diagnosed with traumatic brain injury after missile attacks by Iran on Iraq’s Ain al-Assad base.

Initially and following Iran’s missile strike in retaliation for the assassination of Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the US President had said no US troops had been injured in the attacks.

Later, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) modified the number of casualties suffered by the missile strikes three times.

In the most recent case, the Pentagon has said that 50 US soldiers suffered brain injuries in Iranian missile strikes.

“As of today, 50 US service members have been diagnosed” with traumatic brain injury, Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Campbell said in a statement.

Symptoms of concussive injuries include headaches, dizziness, sensitivity to light and nausea.

A total of 31 of the 50 were treated in Iraq and returned to duty, including 15 of those diagnosed most recently, Campbell said.

Eighteen of the total have been sent to Germany for further evaluation and treatment, while one was sent to Kuwait and has since returned to duty, he said.

The Pentagon said in its latest report last Friday that up to the moment, the brain had been identified in three soldiers.

Seemingly the updated report fully rejects Trump’s initial claim.
