Saudi Ambassador To France: Islamic Countries Lack Drive To Defend Palestine And Al-Quds

MEP: Saudi Arabia is prepared more than ever to revive the stalled efforts for reaching an Israeli-Palestinian peace and creating a conductive atmosphere for resolving the conflict between the two countries, said Saudi ambassador to France, Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Ankary, before the Paris conference takes place.

He added that Saudi Arabia had worked hard, in the past, for the interests of Palestinian people, by holding bilateral talks with the Israeli officials, resulting in the conclusion of the Arab Peace Initiative under late King Abdullah.

This initiative, he reiterated, had many positive points, the implementation of which, however, was excessively prolonged, something that was not anticipated by the Kingdom.

The diplomat expressed disappointment that Islamic countries, particularly the Palestinian state and people themselves, do not have the old determination to break free from the Zionist grip, and are indifferent about the outcome of the Paris negotiations.

He concluded his remarks by stating that given the current situation, Saudi Arabia no longer has any insistence on the implementation of the articles of King Abdullah’s initiative and the country plans to work with other parties, including the UN, EU and Arab states, during the Paris conference, to reach a multilateral consensus for settling the conflict between Israel and Palestine, an agreement in which Israelis’ conditions be met.
