Afghanistan At The Top Of US, Pakistan Military Talks

MEP: US and Pakistan’s senior military officials on Tuesday held a meeting and discussed security issues about Afghanistan.

Gen. Joseph Votel, US commander of the Central Army Central in a visit to Pakistan met with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, army chief of Staff and General Zubair Hayat, the chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Pakistani media have reported that Afghanistan’s security issues were at the beginning of the talks.

General Bajwa said pointing the finger of blame towards Pakistan for the Afghanistan’s terrorist attacks would be detrimental to regional peace and stability.

The statements come as yesterday General Bajwa had a phone call conversation with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and the President once again stressed that terrorists have safe havens in Pakistan.

The rising tide of terrorist attacks in Afghanistan last week, have once again compelled Afghan and US officials to emphasize that terrorists have safe havens in Pakistan.
