Recent Natural Disasters Kill and Wound Over 200 People

In recent natural disasters and floods in 17 provinces, 208 people, including children and women, were killed and wounded.

According to Middle East Press; “In the recent natural disasters in 17 provinces of the country, 59 people were killed and 149 others were injured”, Mohmmad Qasem Haidari Deputy Minister for Disaster Management, said during a news conference on Monday (March. 04).

According to him, research to help flood victims and, at the same time, transferring aid to effected areas has been started.

He added that this year`s rainfall is unprecedented in recent years, and there is still the possibility of another severe floods.

On the other hand, Haidari said; the casualties and losses were negligible compared with high balance of rainfalls, declaring that provincial forecasts and awareness rates have reduced the number of casualties and financial losses.

However, a member of the Farah Provincial Council says the recent rainfalls has caused a lot of financial and humanitarian losses for residents of the province and their farms have been destroyed.

Meanwhile, extreme floods have occurred during recent rainfalls in Farah, Takhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Herat, Zabul and Ghazni provinces.
