Over 20 rockets landed at Kabul airport shortly after US defence secretary arrival

As many as 20-30 rockets were fired at the Kabul international airport hours after US Defence Secretary James Mattis landed in the Afghan capital this morning.

Taliban, which reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, said that Mattis was the target of the attack.

Kabul airport Chief Yaqub Rassouli told media the rockets hit the air forces’ hangars in the northern part. He added that the missiles were fired from Deh Sabz district of Kabul.

There are no reports regarding casualties.
