Egyptian-Two-Islands-Tiran-and-Sanafir-Sea-ViewKABUL: (MEP) The Israeli website “Hona Ma’ak Dayeman” revealed that Maj Gen. Ram Rothberg, the Commander of the Israeli Navy has allegedly asked President Obama to bring the matter of Tiran and Sanafir Islands in his talks with the Saudi king in his Wednesday’s tour to the Middle-East in order to help Israel procure the two strategic islands in the Red Sea.

American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in its 2008 conference in Washington, D.C. has proposed the long-held road map which envisages Israeli domination in the Red Sea. In this line, the Israelis have reassured Riyadh that they will exert their influence to convince Cairo to confer the sovereignty of Tiran and Sanafir Islands to KSA.

Israeli efforts ultimately bore fruit during Saudi monarch’s recent visit to Egypt as Egypt officially forfeited its claim on both Islands.

The Egyptian government has been under fire since it announced in a statement on April 9 that the islands of Tiran and Sanafir fall within the territorial waters of Saudi Arabia based on a maritime border agreement signed with Riyadh the previous day.

Thousands have also taken to online social networks, accusing Sisi of surrendering Egyptian territory in return for Saudi money.

Egypt is reportedly receiving USD 20 billion in aid from Saudi Arabia in return for agreeing to the hand-over of the sovereignty.
