Nangarhar Police Chief Killed In Taliban Roadside Bomb Explosion

MEP: As a result of a roadside bomb explosion in Hisarak district of eastern Nangarhar province, police commander of the province was killed and two of his guards wounded.

Attaullah Khogyani, Nangarhar governor’s spokesman told the Middle East Press, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when Zarwar Zahid, police chief of Nangarhar was surfing the district and his vehicle struck the roadside mine.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior confirmed the report in a statement saying Mr Zahid was headed to the district in order to review the security situation of the district.

The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, wrote in his Twitter account that police chief of Nangarhar and a number of his bodyguards were killed and wounded in the explosion.
