KABUL: (MEP) At least 26 people have been killed and 48 others sustained injuries following four suicide attack inside a shopping complex in Baghdad on Monday.
A car bomb exploded nearby leaving casualties while two bombs went off in the eastern town of Muqdadiya, killing at least 19 people and wounding another 48, security and medical sources said. Another blast in a southeastern Baghdad suburb killed seven more.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants claimed responsibility for deadly attacks and are engaged in controlling swathes of Iraq’s north and west.
Monday’s attacks left the biggest death toll in three months. Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan blamed “this terrorist group after they suffered heavy losses by the security forces”, without naming Islamic State.
Meanwhile, Iraqi security sources said that the security forces have managed to kill all the attackers and were able to take control of the area. They have later initiated operations to clear the whole region.
