More Passengers Kidnapped In Kunduz

MEP: A large number of passengers once again kidnapped by gunmen in Kunduz – Takhar highway, security officials reported on Wednesday.

Mahfozullah Akbari, press officer in 808 Zone Spin Zar in the north of the country told the Middle East News Agency that the abduction took place this morning in Khan Abad district.

He did not provide information on the exact number of the passengers, but said the operation was launched to trace them.

Meanwhile, General Ayub Salangi, former Deputy of Interior Ministry wrote in his Twitter account that 25 of the passengers were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Kunduz – Takhar highway.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

This comes as last week more than 200 passengers had been kidnapped by armed Taliban from three vehicles in Takhar – Kunduz highway. The insurgents killed 12 of them.
