Military Cooperation, The New Phase Of Tel Aviv – Riyadh Relations

MEP: In recent years, overt and covert relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel are in the media spotlight. Their relation got stronger because of some regional developments especially nuclear agreement between Iran and P5 + 1, Zionists and the Saudis were strongly opposed and put all their efforts on thwarting negotiations.

In this regard Zehava Galon, chairman of the leftist Meretz party in Israel, disclosed the presence of 122 US and Israeli officers at King Faisal Air Base in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. An Israeli website announced that United States and Saudi Arabia signed a Memorandum of Understanding for installing a highly advanced anti-missile and anti-radar system in King Faisal Airbase. The system called Iron Dome which was made by the Zionist regime.

In this regard, U.S. networks such as Fox News and Sky News announced that U.S. is doing the talk with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman and Bahrain to buy Israeli missile defense system. It has been pursuing by Raytheon war industries Company, partner of Rafael armament Israeli company.

According to Sky News, An official in Raytheon Company has declared that the revenue of selling this system to Arab states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council is going to be dozens and perhaps hundreds of billions of dollars. According to a document revealed by the head of Meretz, this agreement was signed after Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, traveled To Riyadh on April 20, 2016.

There is an interesting issue that the deployment of Israeli anti-missile system “Iron Dome” in a Saudi military base coincided with a missile attack which Saudi Arabia claimed Ansar Allah fired from Yemen toward Mecca. However Ansar Allah disproved the Saudis claim and emphasized Jeddah International Airport, which was a military base, was the target of the missile attack. Such claims by the Saudi authorities show they are trying to convince the public opinion that their purpose of buying air defense systems is to protect Islamic sacred places. So no one should question where these systems are purchased and where will be deployed.

Military relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel aren’t restricted to Israeli military presence in Tabuk military base and the deployment of missile systems in Saudi Arabia. According to Israeli news websites, Saudi Arabia and Israel signed a contract that Saudi Arabia surrender Tiran and Sanafir islands to Israel however Cairo didn’t finalized conceding the two islands to Riyadh yet. Chairman of the Meretz party criticized Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, for sending the regime troops to Saudi Arabia and said: “because Saudi Arabia decide to surrender Tiran and Sanafir islands to Israel in a secret agreement, we don’t need to send our specialist officers to King Faisal airbase in Tabuk. I must say this wrong decision, which was adopted by Netanyahu, will involve us in a trap of Saudi terrorism sooner or later.”

In fact, the head of Israel’s Meretz pointed out to a signed secret agreement between Riyadh and Tel Aviv in her remarks. According to the contract, Saudis intend to concede Tiran and Sanafir islands to the Zionist regime, right after Cairo agrees on the assignment of two islands.
