The wree arrested by police on Friday near the town of Maropati located in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region of Calabria.

Giuseppe Crea and Giuseppe ferraro were living in a concrete bunker hidden by dense bushes and trees, Prosecutor Federico Cafiero de Raho told reporters.

He added that they were living like animals, a cold life cut off from society,” but still had enough connections to get their illegal activities done when necessary.

Crea and Ferraro had been on the run since 1998 and 2006 individually. The convicted pair has been linked to gangland murders and other crimes.

Ferraro 47 was found guilty 18 years ago in absentia for a string of brutal murders and was always described by Italian authorities as “extremely dangerous.”

Crea 37 was wanted for mafia association and extortion and is suspected of gunning down a rival’s son.

They are high-ranking members of the immensely wealthy and powerful Ndrangheta family, which controls much of the world’s cocaine trade.
