Iran Foils Major Takfiri Bomb Plots Across Country
MEP: Iran’s intelligence ministry said Monday it had thwarted a plot by Takfiris to bomb targets in the capital Tehran and other cities.
The intelligence officers also arrested several suspects in the plot as well as seizing bombs and ammunition during the operation.
“One of the biggest Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorist plots was discovered and foiled,” the official IRNA news agency quoted the ministry as saying.
Iranian authorities often use the term ‘Takfiris’ to refer to Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) and other Islamist militants who accuse other Muslims of being ‘nonbelievers’.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani said that the attacks were planned for the holy month of Ramadan.
