“I Wish Him Well”: Trump on Reports of Kim Jong Un’s Health

KABUL (MEP) – US President Donald Trump on Tuesday wished North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “good luck” following reports suggesting Kim could be incapacitated following a cardiovascular surgery.

“These are reports that came out, and we don’t know,” Trump said at a White House press briefing when asked what he knew about Kim’s condition.

CNN reported yesterday that the North Korean leader was in a “brain dead” after the surgery, but the US president called the report incorrect and said he wishes the South Korean leader well.

“If he is in the kind of condition that the reports say, that the news is saying, it’s a very serious condition.”

Speculation about Kim’s health first arose after his absence from the April 15 anniversary birthday celebration of North Korea’s founding father Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of Kim Jong Un.

Possible Successor

Meanwhile, some media outlets have considered North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s younger sister for his possible successor.

Part royal representative, part personal assistant, Ms Kim Yo Jong has emerged as one of her older brother’s closest aides.

Earlier this month, she was reinstated as an alternate Politburo member of the ruling Workers Party of Korea.

Analysts believe her statement in March shows that she has made significant progress in terms of power in the regime.

Ms Kim Yo Jong is one of her brother’s close advisers and has even represented him at the Pyongyang Winter Olympics.
