Hours After Truce, Explosion Rocks Western Syria Killing 4

Hama-map (1)KABUL: (MEP) A car bomb explosion has reportedly rocked Hama province in the western Syria right hours after a “cessation of hostilities” agreement of Russia-US took effect in the country.

The blast killed at least four people and wounded eight others that took place near the entrance of the Salamiyah town on Saturday, according to SANA news agency.

A militant group affiliated with the Islamic State (IS/ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, PressTV said.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also held ISIS responsible for Saturday’s bomb blast.

“The car bomb attack is not a breach to the truce because it occurred in an area where the cessation of hostilities agreement does not apply,” said Rami Abdulrahman, head of the monitoring group.

Salamiyah is considered as a frontline in battles between Syrian government forces and Daesh Takfiri militants.

The blast came just hours after a two-week ceasefire dealt by Russia and the US went into effect in Syria, urging the “cessation of hostilities” by the warring sides to the conflict gripping the Arab country.
