Germany Urges NUG To Respond To Civil Protests Over TUTAP

13219777_1181767478555837_110569765_nMEP: The German ambassador in Kabul in connection to protest the TUTAP electricity project has urged the National Unity Government (NUG) to give an appropriate response to the protests.

Sarwar Danish, second Vice-President met with Markus Potzel, German ambassador to Kabul on Sunday.

The two sides discussed the demonstrations about the imported electricity from Turkmenistan and the changes route power transmission line from Bamyan-Maidan Wardak to Salang.

Danish during the meeting stated that “according to the technical studies and the Afghan government’s commitment to balanced development, public protest is a right move.”

According to him, six months before the issue was officially presented and urged on the Leader Board of the NUG to give a satisfactory answer for people’s demand.

Second Vice President stressed that the issue will be closely followed in order to address well through dialogue and peaceful negotiation.

He said strives are ongoing to provide clear and satisfactory response to the legitimate protests and it is the responsibility of the Government to act transparent and responsible in such cases.

Meanwhile, Potzel stressed on giving an appropriate response for people’s civil protests.

“The Asian Development Bank and the German company Fishner in this case is impartial and Germany stands with the people and the government of Afghanistan.” He added.
